As I write this article, we have just finished our LEAD training. Thank you to all who attended and took time away from their busy schedules to learn what is new with our Federation and how you can better lead your local association. Thank you to the NAIFA-California Board of Trustees who also attended and taught the different subjects.  They put forth a lot of effort to ensure that all attendees went away with good information.

For those who did not attend, I strongly encourage you to lean on your association’s liaison to assist you with your annual planning. I recommend that you also let them update you on the changes that might be made at the Performance + Purpose 2017 Annual Conference in Orlando. Every local association needs to make sure that they discuss these changes with their members, and make sure they have representatives at the convention.

Now the LEAD training is behind us, our thoughts turn to the Performance + Purpose 2017 Annual Conference. I have been to many NAIFA-National Conventions, but none have been more important than this one.  For your first local meeting of the year, it is vital that you are current on all the information being presented at the convention. Here are six reasons why you should attend:

1. The convention will be in Orlando, September 8-10, 2017, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort.

2. Several events are being planned on Thursday, September 7. Two are NAIFA skill building seminars—Time Management for Financial Professionals and Professional Prospecting.

3. On Friday, September 8 there will be the first general session and a full schedule of educational workshops. The NAIFA Expo will be open with exhibitors ready to share their latest products and services to help you become more successful.  That night will be a NAIFA party at the House of Blues with the Thomas Nicholas Band.

4. On Saturday, September 9 the convention begins with the Women in Insurance and Financial Services Breakfast. The second general session, another full day of educational workshops, LILI 7 workshop from 2:30-5 p.m. and evening company dinners complete the day.

5. On Sunday, September 10, the convention is only one-half day and QME will be voted on during the National Council Session. This will be a must to attend as the vote will decide the course of the Federation. The main platform speaker will be Charles Payne of Fox Business Network.

6.There will also be five main platform speakers throughout the conference that I haven’t told you about.

Putting it all together, this will be the best investment you can make for your career.  Think about it—speakers, educational skill building extended sessions, educational workshops, NAIFA expo, House of Blues and the LILI 7 workshop. You will also have the chance to meet top producers who are always more than happy to share their ideas.

Do not forget to join us in the California Suite on Friday and Saturday night.  This will be a place where you can relax, share your experiences at the convention and perhaps enjoy a little liquid refreshment.
