Another year for NAIFA-California begins, and we are excited to announce that Tom Michel will be returning to NAIFA National as a proposed Trustee, and Jill Judd will be proposed as NAIFA National Secretary. Join me in giving our congratulations to both of our California candidates.

This year at the NAIFA National Conference, the election process has changed. Last year it was voted by the delegates to move to the selection process and the selection committee would present a “slate of candidates” to be voted in at the conference. As we gather at the National Conference, we will be presented with a slate of officers and trustees and we will then vote to put them into office. Please join us at this year's conference in Vegas to help us vote in our two California delegates.

The NAIFA National Conference also has a new look and feel. It will focus on education, inspiration and motivation, and much of the prior “business feel” has been removed. It is no longer just for the Local and State leadership, it is a conference every member of NAIFA should attend. Please get the word out that NAIFA National is “New and Improved” and the conference is for everyone.

NAIFA-California is also moving forward with additional changes. We have our State Conference set, and the lineup will continue to grow toward education, inspiration and motivation. The strategic plan of NAIFA-California is to move us toward a strong value-add organization and bring tools and support that each member can use to become a better success. We want to be the association of choice for our profession. As we reviewed the National Strategic Plan, we made decisions to bring NAIFA-California in alignment with many of the goals and initiatives of National. We want to suggest that each Local also review the National Strategic Plan and bring their goals and focus in alignment so that we are all moving the same direction as a whole.

Over the coming months you will hear more from the State leadership on where National is heading, where NAIFA-California wants to go and how we can help each of you get where you desire to be a strong viable local to your members. We are working toward common goals, and bringing NAIFA back as the organization of choice.

I look forward to serving you as President of California this coming year, and welcome your input. Together let’s grow NAIFA.

Serving you,

Shane Westhoelter, AEP, CLU, LUTCF
