The end of the year is fast approaching, and for many of us, that means finalizing our last minute business deals and getting ready for holidays with the family. With NAIFA, the end of the year also means the end of our Advocacy year and preparing for new legislation and legislators for 2016 and beyond.

2016 looks to be a very important year on the legislative and regulatory front. NAIFA is still fighting for our members to develop a workable solution to the Department of Labor’s unworkable fiduciary rule. In addition we have seen a new crop of state legislators with whom we need to develop relationships and better educate them on who we are and how we serve our clients and the community. These activities are in addition to the lobbying efforts both NAIFA-California and NAIFA National engage in on a daily basis on numerous issues the affect our industry. All of these efforts are the key to our continued ability to serve our clients and frankly, stay in business. None of these efforts can continue without your Political Action Committee (PAC) contributions.

If NAIFA’s lobbying efforts were a sport, as a NAIFA member you are already on the team, but until you become a contributor to the PAC, you are not really in the game. Your membership helps us make the case to our legislators that NAIFA speaks for thousands of insurance agents and millions of clients; however, it is only with your PAC Contributions that we can fully convey that message to our legislators in a consistent and effective manner.

I am asking that you put one more item on your to-do list before the clock strikes midnight on New Years: Go online and make a PAC contribution. If you have never given, you can start as low as $8 per month or $100 per year. If you are already contributing to the PAC, I ask that you increase your contribution for this year.

Wishing you and your family a safe and happy holiday season and a Happy New Year!
