Your state association is running on all cylinders. We had our monthly board conference call, and our trustee liaisons gave glowing reports on all of you. It appears everyone is ready for a good year. I encourage your leadership to sit in on our monthly calls. It is a great way to keep current on what is going on at the state and national level, as well as trade ideas on what other associations are doing. Congratulations, and do not forget that we are all here to support you in any way you need us.

The QME (Bylaw Amendments) vote will now be held during the NAIFA Congressional Conference in Washington D.C. on May 22-23, 2018. Please keep this on your calendars, and be prepared to send representatives who were going to Orlando to this conference.  The QME will make a huge change in how we run the federation. Please do not dismiss keeping this in front of your association.

The Membership Team, chaired by Past President Shane Westhoelter, is teaming up with NAIFA-National and using a program that will assist us in contacting prospective agents in a systematic way we have never used before. This program is in its early stage, but so far, very effective results have been shown. This program does not replace local associations recruiting members. Increasing membership is not to be taken lightly.  With all that is going on in Sacramento and Washington D.C., we are looking at a huge challenge in the coming years. A challenge like we have never seen before in our industry. Our voices will be heard, but we can do so much more with a larger membership. We have only two options—to grow or to die.

Speaking of events affecting our industry, we must also get involved! It is not enough to attend monthly local association meetings and assume you have done your share to protect the future of our associations and industry. I highly encourage you to give to IFAPAC annually. What is it worth to you to wake up tomorrow and know that you still have the opportunity to serve businesses and families into the future? Would you pay $25, $50 or $100 a month to ensure your potential to help others? Sure you would.  I hope that you will consider helping us stay the only association that can say we fight for all the above.

Reach out to your local association or your state officers and trustees and volunteer to get involved.  Just remember….
