KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 20, 2016) — The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) has expanded services to insurance agents and brokers operating as resident or non-resident producers in California. As the largest economy in the U.S., California's access to the full repository of NIPR's offerings is a significant expansion for electronic producer licensing.

"This partnership gives nearly 380,000 insurance agents access to additional NIPR products," California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones said. "These tools create the opportunity for more business in our state and expanded choices for producers."

All California resident and non-resident producers and applicants will now be able to use NIPR services to apply for and renew their licenses online as another option to complement the online services available through California Department of Insurance's website

Most non-residents have been able to use some of NIPR's services for many years. With the enhancement of these services, California now offers the full array of NIPR's online services to all its licensed producers, residents, non-residents, individuals, entities and all producer license types.

"This collaboration with Commissioner Jones and the California Producer Licensing staff is demonstrating a strong momentum right from the start," NIPR Executive Director Karen Stakem Hornig said. "We will have a substantial increase in new California licensing applications and expect these numbers to continue to escalate."
